Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th, 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The first single, Pho was released on the 21st of October, 2016 and was released on Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in notoriety. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox first posted songs online in the year 2012. Her debut album Ariography and her mixtape debut in 2013, Five Finger Discount. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound along with her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21st, 2015. Later that year her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. On December 8 it was announced that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is a song that she co-wrote with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21, 2016 her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018, she appeared in two of her songs with labelmates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. And Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was followed by a video in September. On November 9 she dropped two more singles, 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On the 13th of November, two brand new singles, titled The No One and pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole on her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16th, and made the track available in a solo version on her debut album. In February her music video to the song was released. The track has garnered over 3 million YouTube views in just one week. As a support act she performed together with 6LACK during December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
